New ad from Old Spice. Oh no, wait, I mean Johnnie Walker.

This is the latest TV ad for Johnnie Walker from Leo Burnett in Sydney.


It’s a notable departure from recent ad campaigns for the brand, which have been fairly serious in tone and have presented personal stories of progress and overcoming obstacles. The brief for this ad seems to have been ‘What would happen if we created a Mad Men version of the Old Spice guy and got him to talk about whisky?’. I have no idea what it has to do with the concept of ‘Keep Walking’, but it’s certainly not the first brand to ‘draw inspiration’ from Old Spice, as this Dairy Queen ad confirms.
