Back in January this year, heavy snow caused some of Glenfiddich’s warehouse roofs to collapse, exposing the bottles to the skies. Out of adversity comes opportunity. From these bottles, the company has created a limited edition non-aged single malt called ‘Snow Phoenix’. One thousand bottles will be made available exclusively to members of the online club, Glenfiddich Explorers, and the rest will be available in some markets from mid-November (at around £50 for a 70cl bottle).
Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman described the launch this week as “an appropriate way of celebrating the pioneering spirit of the distillery team at this moment in Glenfiddich’s history”.
Glenfiddich has dedicated Snow Phoenix to the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and the drink itself is a single malt, gold in colour with bright copper highlights.
