John Walker’s halo effect

According to this article in the Sydney Morning Herald, Johnnie Walker are seeing a halo effect on their King George V whisky since launching the super-premium product: John Walker.

A bottle of John Walker would cost you $4,500 and you’d better be quick if you want one – only 330 bottles exist.

The company’s brand ambassador Jonathan Driver, who launched John Walker in Australia this month, said:

“We are trying to make something that has elegance, sophistication, structure and nuance. This is our chance to show off stuff that we are proud of. It shows off what the guys [blenders] can do, and there’s a market for it.”

Interestingly, Driver claims that there’s been a halo effect on King George V, which has seen a 15 per cent increase in sales. King George V retails for a slightly more affordable $1000.
